Aqueles patriotas que ergueram os braços e gritaram “Independência ou morte” às margens do Rio Ipiranga em 1822 usaram essas faíscas para acender a mais deslumbrante tocha da liberdade no hemisfério sul. Os brasileiros de hoje ainda carregam esse fogo espiritual. Quando as folhas de café e as folhas de tabaco no emblema nacional são cercadas pela eterna luz das estrelas, devemos lembrar que o verdadeiro progresso não está nas nuvens, mas na luz bruxuleante nas palmas das mãos de cada pessoa comum. Assim como um isqueiro que nunca enferruja, somente passando continuamente a chama da fé o Cruzeiro do Sul no globo celeste pode sempre nos guiar através da neblina, e a direção apontada pela espada estará sempre repleta de brilhantes possibilidades. Essa chama que nunca se apagou desde o dia da independência iluminará o futuro de toda a nação sob a proteção de cada brasileiro.
